The Adeptus Mechanicus are the priesthood of the Omnissiah, the Machine God of Mars. Theirs is an ancient organisation, the original Mechanicum predates the Imperium itself. They maintain every bit of technology in the Imperium, lavishing care and attention on the sacred machines in their care, but this is not their only task. They constantly take part in the Quest for Knowledge, and their Explorator fleets reach out into the darkness, searching for hidden secrets, forever looking to expand their pool of knowledge.
The Adeptus Mechanicus view all technology as holy and imbued with a Machine Spirit, from the gigantic Titans down to the humble lasgun. They placate and serve these spirits with unguents, oils, and prayer, seeking to raise their righteous wrath against the foe. They are a priesthood wreathed in mystery, all technology is their purview.The Priesthood of Mars maintains forgeworlds across the galaxy, entire worlds given over as holy ground of the Machine God, huge temples where life is breathed into the sacred machinery of the Imperium. On these worlds, every inch of ground is given over to forge temples, and their legions of indentured workers.
When one of these forgeworlds comes under attack, the Mechanicus are fearsome in defense, unveiling archaeotech weaponry unseen for millennia, ravening beams of voltaic energy burning through the invaders, each shot a hymn to the Omnissiah, each death at the hands of a holy gun a prayer. The Skitarii, the famous tech legions, are merciless. These heavily augmented warriors can take fire that would kill a normal human, and survive conditions that would shred flesh in seconds. Their weaponry looks archaic, but in truth, the older a weapon in the Imperium is, the better it serves, and their technology is made up of the oldest and most powerful small arms the Mechanicus have in their armouries.The Priesthood of Mars also make use of the Legio Cybernetica, heavily armoured robot warriors controlled by sacred doctrina wafers in their skulls, and Kataphron Battle Servitors, huge armoured platforms controlled by the remnant of a mindscraped criminals and heretics.The Adeptus Mechanicus are perfect for anyone who often prays that their technology works! Their unique archaeotech look is unique in Warhammer 40,000, and they have some of the most individual and spectacular models in the range. They are a ranged faction, focused on gunning their enemies down before they can close to melee range.
