Description

Produced in vast numbers by the Commerce Guild, the Recusant-class Destroyer reinforces the daunting ranks of the Separatist fleet. The Recusant is a formidable warship, capable of independent command and armed with an array of turbolasers for long-range combat and lighter laser cannons to cover against fighter attack. Its speed and maneuverability threaten the weak points of the enemy battle line, but when gathered together, they can overwhelm more powerful Republic ships with their sheer numbers.

This pack includes everything you need to add 1 Recusant-class Destroyer to your games of Star Wars™: Armada including 1 painted plastic ship with base and fin, 2 ship cards, 14 upgrade cards, and 13 tokens.

It may be the cheapest Large ship in the game, but it packs a punch
    The Unit
The 2 versions of the ship – Support Destroyer and Light Destroyer are both excellent. A superb set of defence tokens is where it starts, next we find generous wide arcs perfect for double-arcing the enemy, which this ship certainly wants to do sing it’s substantial dicepools. The manoeuvre chart is the best yet for a large ship, especially at the all important Speed 3. Shields and hull are modest however and on the upgrades we see Weapons Team and Turbolasers (plus Ordnance for the Light Destroyer, the short ranged brawler of the two) but no Defensive Refit. What we have here then is a large skirmisher – a ship able to move in quickly, deal heavy damage, but will need to escape if it starts getting targetted in a serious way. Put this on the flank, keep the enemy distracted an it should do very well.
    Upgrades
The two Commanders that come in this set are ones I expect to see regularly – Marr Tuuk and TF-1726 both look fairly costed and dish out ways to increase your dice pool for attacks form ships – CIS is shaping up to be a very ship focused faction.
The three titles are all of interest, letting you customise the ship for the particular role you have in mind for it and all are seing play
Of the Officers included two fo them – Shu Mai and Passel Argente are going to be showing up all over the place.
The remaining upgrades – B2 Rocket Troopers, Flak Guns and DBY-827 Heavy Turbolasers are niche but effective cards that synergise well with the Recusant and other Separatist ships. You won’t use them all the time, but you will use them.
    The Model
I really like this sculpt, the triple engine block at the back, and the slender needle like design bristling with spiky little details is very appealing to me. The paint job very well done with lots of stripes, decals and little lights picked out on the hull. The best factory paint-job I’ve seen on an Armada ship.
    In Conclusion
The Recusant rewards cunning play and careful positioning with heaps of damage piled on to enemy ships. Master it’s use and many victories will be yours. I recommended 1 for any CIS player, with 2 really opening up your fleet building options.
