Description

The commando units are all volunteers and the most elite force of the Australian Army. They are trained to be tough, lightly equipped soldiers, that can operate alone in the jungle with minimal support. Only the most aggressive and quick thinking officers are selected for leadership roles in the Commando units. They are amongst the most highly trained troops in the Australian Army. The Commandos travel light, enabling them to undertake independent operations far from base. They are issued with a variety of weapons suitable for their role as hard hitting light infantry such as both Owen and Thompson submachine-guns, Boys anti-tank rifles, 2-inch mortars, and the British Flamethrower, Portable, No 2.
