The Command Net Flooded – Adrantis Endeavour Sitrep VI

Battle reports have been filed thick and fast over the command net as the Adrantis Endeavour escalated from tentative skirmishes and sharp beachhead assaults into grinding, attritional engagements. Combat fought over vast swathes of multiple planets for control of sectors, cities, and streets.

An occult Skitarii horde was observed pouring onto an unhallowed shrine as a force of Salamanders moved to halt their movements. Torrents of promethium and bolt shells forming a defensive barrage were met by returning volleys of las and darkfire from the Skitarii. A lone salamander Ancient stood heroic inside the shrine, incinerating and crushing scores of the enemy, but he could not hold out forever, brought low by the weight of numbers, the finishing blow delivered by a Veletaris Sergeant’s Powerfist. Despite the remaining Salamanders’ violent actions in search of vengeance, the Skitarii were just too many. Able to conclude their dark ritual, the sons of Mars took victory and summoned otherworldly reinforcements for the battles to come.

The Knights of House Orhlacc, not long having reported a successful engagement against the Sons of Horus, and reinforced by the Knight Acheron “Sorrowful Dawn”, were once again in combat. This time facing off against the vile, traitorous Death Guard. Battle was heralded by the “Scorched Warden” unleashing its Thermal Cannons against a Death Guard armoured column, taking the first kill by destroying a Contemptor Dreadnought. Elements of the Household Guard, supported by two Knights, pushed up and secured one of the objectives nestled in a nearby ruin and waited for the Death Guard response. A torrent of fire erupted from a charging Leviathan Dreadnought and Land Raider, providing cover for the rest of the Death Guard to dismount and form up into assault positions. After a heavy moment of quiet, both sides unleashed sustained torrents of fire, ruins set ablaze, vehicles damaged or destroyed, as infantry manoeuvred to gain the upper hand. Despite destroying large swathes of the traitor forces and gaining the upper hand, the Knights could not wrest control of the battlefield from the Death Guard completely. The Knights reported back victory and would be able to add more kill markers to their walkers, but it was a close-run battle, and corruption yet remains in some ruins, dug in, preparing for further days’ battles.

The Blind Sons trudged across the deserts of Adrantis IV searching for the source of intercepted Vox transmissions. Hearing the rumble of armoured wartracks across the vast wasteland, Centurion Morvek Thane readied his troops. Cresting nearby dunes, the Emperor’s Executioners, Marines of the Space Wolves Legion charge onwards, heavily armed and armoured, with wicked intent. As the Sons of Horus moved to secure the intelligence they had been dispatched to retrieve, they were met by the ferocious fire from multiple Space Wolves units, causing many wounds and completely obliterating the Justarin bodyguards. Having softened the enemy and despite the Blind Son’s ancient Dreadnought, Kaltos laid down devastating covering fire, the Wolves launched their charge. Breaking through firing lines and engaging the Traitors at close range. Adaptable and prepared as ever, the Sons of Horus pushed forward their reserves, Reaver Cheiftan Varrik Kael and his squad pushing the Wolves off the central objective and gaining some momentum. Before long, the Reavers were faced with the crazed charge of the Wolves Praetor, who cut many down in his wake, the intervention of Morvek Thane himself the only way to stem the flow of dead and wounded Reavers. Combat between the Centurion and Praetor took centre stage and would be worthy of a Saga, but it would be the Sons of Horus who eventually beat back the Loyalists, claiming the intelligence for themselves before withdrawing from the field.
