Everything we learned during Warhammer Fest 2021

For a special Warhammer Fest 2021 Games Workshop hosted a series of livestreams on Twitch.tv unveiling new models, box sets and books from their famous tabletop wargames Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, as well as new editions for some of their more niche games like Necromunda.

What happened at Warhammer Fest 2021?

Day One – Age of Sigmar 

The first day of Warhammer Fest 2021 kicked off with all things new in the world of Age of Sigmar.

As part of the final chapter of the Broken Realms, Games Workshop unleashed Kragnos, a new god of destruction. Lore wise, Kragnos is the last survivor of an ancient race, the god of earthquakes who is worshipped by the armies of destruction. He towers over most beings in the Mortal Realms except the biggest of the Mega Gargants. 

After being revealed earlier in the year, we saw new additions to the new Soulblight Gravelords in the form of new vampire leaders and new units in the form of undead Direwolves. 

Day Two – Warhammer 40,000

Day two of Warhammer Fest 2021 served up a slew of brand new additions to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, specifically new units for the Sisters of Battle. Games Workshop revealed new hero characters for the faction like the righteous Morvenn Vahl, Abbess Sanctorum of the Adepta Sororitas including and new units in the form of the mace wielding Celestian Sacresants and Paragon Warsuits. Coupled with this with a brand new Adeptus Sororitas Codex which included new update rules and strategies.

We also saw new additions around the Battle of Charadon. The second book of the campaign for the Battle of Charadon was unveiled as the next chapter of the story. We also got a first glimpse at a new Battlezone for the Battle of Charadon. 

Day Three – Black Library

Games Workshop’s Black library is going to be updated with a range of new books.

We were introduced to a whole new range of novels for the Warhammer Crime series. The new mystery novels will further explore the seedy underbelly of the Warhammer universe.

We also got a new range of models from the Gaunt’s Ghost series of novels. The models bring the main characters from the series to life. 

Day Four – Boxed games

Day four of Warhammer Fest was dedicated to its range of boxed games and saw new additions to Warhammer Underworlds, Necromunda and Aeronautica. 

A new Idoneth Deepkin warband was added to Warhammer Underworlds. The new Elathain’s Soulraid clan are the first new Idoneth Deepkin models that we’ve seen since they were first introduced.

The world of Necromunda will see new units for the Delaque models coupled with a book that offers more lore on the  and new ways to play.

Finally, we were introduced to a whole new boxed set for Aeronautica Imperialis named Wrath of Angels. Similar to previous expansions like Wings of Vengeance, the all-new Wrath of Angels introduces new Aeldari Craftworlds and Space Marines units to do battle in the skys. 

Day Five – Warhammer 40K, again!

Games Workshop were that excited about how many new Warhammer 40,000 products they had to show us that we were treated to a second day of the grim dark future. 

Ork players rejoiced with an almighty WAAAGH! as we were shown a brand new army for the Orks in Warhammer 40,000. The Beast Snagga Orks are a new force of mounted Squighog Boyz in a limited edition army box.

Along with new models, the Beast Snagga Orks will see a new codex with lore, datasheets and strategies to get the most out of your rampaging mounted WAAAGH-band! Whether you’re thinking about starting a new Ork army or looking to make new additions to an existing one

Day six – Warhammer Fest Surprise Day!

There was plenty of mystery surrounding the final day of Warhammer Fest 2021, with plenty of speculation flying around the community the curtain opened to reveal what many had been eagerly waiting for.

Games Workshop unveiled the next edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, with refined rules and a new campaign system designed to let players forge their own epic legend in the Mortal Realms.

Along with the new edition of Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop also unveiled new editions to Sigmar’s favourite sons, the Stormcast Eternals. A new hero, Yndrasta, a winged angelic being who uses her mighty spear Thengavar to hunt down the most terrifying monsters of the Mortal Realms.
