Age of Sigmar

“Age of Sigmar is a fantasy mass battle game made by Games Workshop, played with 28mm miniatures. It’s set in the Mortal Realms, a unique setting made up of eight realms, each strongly linked to a primal force. These realms were once a paradise, flourishing full of life and hope, but now their very existence is in peril due to the rampaging forces of Chaos. Four Grand Alliances, Order, Chaos, Death, and Destruction, fight amongst themselves for domination, survival, or both. The fabric of the realms quakes as gods and mortals clash amidst the ruins of a former paradise.

The forces of Order are many and varied, with Sigmar’s chosen, the Stormcast Eternals, at their head. The Cities of Sigmar back up these immortal warriors, made up of legions of mortal humans, aelves, and duardin, bound together to defend the land.
Allied with these mostly human forces are the Fyreslayers, berserker duardin who hammer Ur-gold runes into their own skin and ride gigantic Magmadroths into battle. Their cousins, the Kharadron Overlords, ride the winds in their skyvessels, constantly searching for aethergold, armed to the teeth to deter privateers and sky pirates.
Aelven forces also abound in Order, such as the bloodthirsty Daughters of Khaine led by their goddess Morathi, devoted to the spilling of blood. The Idoneth Deepkin are made up of the first attempt to recreate aelves in the Mortal Realms, their bodies stunted and soulless. They fled from the sight of other races long ago to live under the waves, and they bring strange and hideous sea creatures to fight for them when they raid for souls. In contrast, the Lumineth Realm Lords are a tall and beautiful people, true forged aelves created from the purest aelven souls by the twin gods Tyrion and Teclis.
The forces of the Seraphon, enigmatic lizardfolk, are born of celestial power and filled with the energy of the stars. They strike from the heavens unlooked for, bursting to life to destroy Chaos wherever it rears its head.
Finally, the Sylvaneth are the life spirits of the Realm of Life, the spirits of trees and the land itself rising in defense of life, led by the goddess Alarielle. Chaos is the great opposition to Order, a force inimical to the energy of life and purity. Four dark gods, Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle, and Tzeentch, form the pantheon of Chaos. The Blades of Khorne are vicious, brutal melee focused killers, butchers without equal, steeped in the love of the Blood God. The Hedonites of Slaanesh are dedicated to excess, thirsty for every pleasure and every pain. The Maggotkin of Nurgle are disease infested, spreading Nurgle’s plagues across the Mortal Realms, hideous, foul, bloated warriors full of hatred and bile. Finally the Disciples of Tzeentch are bizarre, unsettling warriors, steeped in the magical energy of the god of Change.
The Slaves to Darkness are followers of the four gods undivided, while the Beasts of Chaos are foul, mutated beastmen, arising from the forests and dark places to enact their foul rituals. The Skaven are hideous ratfolk, birthed from the depths of their burrows deep beneath the earth, devoted to the Horned Rat, they spew forth across the Mortal Realms in shrieking, chittering hordes.
The Grand Alliance of Death follows the Great Necromancer Nagash, the God of Death. All corpses and souls within the Mortal Realms fall under his dominion, and he will have his due. The Legions of Nagash are hordes of skeletons, zombies, and ghosts, the shambling hordes marching across the lands to reclaim bodies for Nagash. The Nighthaunt are the ghostly spirits of criminals, destined to be punished beyond death at the hands of the Great Necromancer, forever denied rest or peace for their sins.
The Ossiarch Bonereapers are immortal shells built of bone and filled with the souls of the fallen, destined to carry out their task of claiming bones for Nagash. Finally, the Flesh Eater Courts are hideous parodies of once noble heroes, gripped by a pervasive delusion that they are heroic knights, rather than hideous flesh eating monsters.
Finally, the Grand Alliance of Destruction exist only to fight, with no greater purpose or glory than that of wanton destruction. Orruk Warclans are vast hordes of battle hungry orruks who love battle and war for their own sake. The Gloomspite Gitz are much more numerous, made of of small, hideous grots, and giant Troggoths, following the mysterious whims of the Bad Moon.
Huge Ogor Mawtribes devour everything in their path. They believe that eating is an act of devotion to their god, and they are faithful indeed. They bury their foes beneath a tide of unwashed flesh and ravenous maws.
Finally, the Sons of Behemat are huge gargants, giant humanoids and monstrous killers who can devour an entire village at once. The Mortal Realms are waiting.
