The Sons of Dorn are one of the proudest and strongest chapters of Space Marines. The 7th Legion Astartes, and their Primarch Rogal Dorn, have one of the most storied histories of service in the entire Imperium.

During the Horus Heresy, that cataclysmic civil war at the birth of the Imperium, the Imperial Fists were stationed on Terra itself. They were the Emperor’s praetorian guard, the finest seigemasters in the Imperium, masters of steel and stone. When the Heresy broke out, the Imperial Fists fortified the Throneworld with every ounce of their wisdom, Rogal Dorn turning his brilliant mind to make the Sol system a nightmare for any attacker.

Dorn’s fortifications held better than any could have hoped, but against the might of the traitor Warmaster’s fleet no defensive position would stand. The Imperial Fists turned Terra itself into a killing ground, costing the traitors an ocean of blood, but the tidal wave of heretics and daemons could not be halted. To Dorn’s eternal shame, he was not at the Emperor’s side when He fought Horus. He was separated from him, swept apart by the eddies of battle.

Following the Heresy, the Imperial Fists led much of the reconquest of the fallen Imperium, digging in and refortifying ground that was lost. When the Legions were split, the Imperial Fists formed into the Black Templars, the Imperial Fists, and the Crimson Fists chapters, all of which have survived to this day.

The Imperial Fists and their successors have a reputation for being stubborn, in attack or defence. This mindset seems to be baked into their geneseed, no matter the situation, an Imperial Fist would rather die than retreat. The chapter can fight in any situation, as befits a Codex Chapter, but when behind a wall or attacking one, the Imperial Fists truly begin to shine. Indomitable in defence, relentless in attack, the sons of Dorn can pick out any weakness in a fortification and improve or capitalise on it. They will form a killing ground, laying mines, tank traps, all with precisely laid in guns in support. If the enemy runs the gauntlet of defenses, and somehow survives, they’ll be faced by the posthuman, perfectly drilled warriors of the Imperial Fists, with shields and swords overlapping in a terrifying formation.

The Imperial Fists are true sons of the Emperor, perfect for those who like playing defensively and tactically. They specialise in bolter weaponry, laying down precise fields of fire and gutting enemy advances before counter attacking to drive the enemy from their walls. In melee they prefer crackling thunder hammers and powerfists, weapons that can make a mockery of any foe with armour tough enough to make it through the barrage of gunfire from the walls.
